Mt. Moosilauke, NH… I don’t see any lightening!

The problem with doing a group hike with the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is that you kinda have to play by their rules… but we didn’t. Despite my half-hearted efforts, the trip leader didn’t quite understand what the point of a summit cheeseburger was, or why I had to go above treeline to reach the summit when there were high winds, cloud cover, low temperatures, risk of lightening, and when the trip leader’s decision was to return to the trailhead.

So my buddy Mike (sans cheeseburger) and I (carrying a McDonald’s cheeseburger) left the group behind below treeline and pushed towards the summit of Mt. Moosilauke where I consumed said cheeseburger in the cold driving rain and then caught up to the rest of the AMC group back at the trailhead.
