In the Shadow of the Grand Teton

The Grand? Sounds like a worthy destination for a Cheeseburger, but not today. We took on Lunch Tree Hill – it’s in Grand Teton National Park but it’s not the Grand. This was the third summit of our Yellowstone/Grand Teton adventure. We had already scaled Signal Mountain and Geyser Hill and were looking for the next challenge.

We found the Lunch Tree Hill trailhead at the Jackson Lake Lodge:

Jackson Lake Lodge

The standard route proceeds through the lobby, up the stairs and through the Great Room to the balcony overlooking Jackson Lake. Bear right up the asphalt path and find the Lunch Tree. A large boulder next to the tree marks the summit.

The Boys

At the summit we pulled out the burgers and made the ascent official.
