It Was A Dark and Stormy Morning…

Earlier in the weekend, we had prepared a freezerful of nano-sized Cheeseburgers, and we needed to find another summit on which to enjoy these miniature delicacies. We targeted Parley’s Peak, a small summit overlooking the Salt Lake Valley. The family, MadeMarion, sirloinofbeef, dinoboy, and Bar Bar Links dove into the car and drove up to Devonshire Road to start the short hike to the summit. We arrived to find a construction site straddling the beginning of the trail. This time we could still approach Parley’s from the north but once someone’s McMansion gets built we’ll have to traverse around to the south side of the peak.

Sure!

It had rained all morning but a short break in the weather provided us an opportunity to hike Parley’s Peak. Bar Bar Jinks led the way up the trail, running to beat the arrival of the next rain cloud. Following close behind was the rest of the family – we were all greeted at the summit by a cold wind. As the Cheeseburgers were quickly dispatched, a couple of hikers came by and we told them about Summitcheese. I hope they’ll join the quest. The descent was rapid and by the time we arrived at the car rain was falling and we were all cold and wet. But there were smiles all around on the drive home as the conversation turned to future Cheeseburger hikes…….
